       The Department of “Industrial Automation" was established in September 1970 from staff members of the Electrical Engineering Faculty at the Higher Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Institute.

       At that time – during the academic year 1970/1971 a brand new course, with the same name was offered to applicants, and their number amounted to 300 in total.

       For the whole period of more than 45 years of existence more than 2800 graduates got their proficiency in automation at the department. Their job positions are in all spheres of industry, some of them had got job positions in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia etc.

       PhD graduates amount to 26 plus one Dr. Sc. degree as well.

       Nowadays 15 lecturers - 7 Assoc. professors and 9 Assistant professors comprise the staff at the department, more than a quarter of them are under 35 years old.
