DepartmentThermal Engineering”

DepartmentThermal Engineering” is established in 1998 with the main purpose to ensure the education of the students in the created in 1995 major “Thermal Engineering” for obtaining Bachelor and Master degrees.

The professional field 5.4 Power Engineering, which includes the major “Thermal Engineering”, has received program accreditation of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (Report №44/5.12.2008) with total mark “Good” and validity time of 6 years. For education of PhD students the department has 3 accredited scientific majors:  Theoretical Thermal Engineering, Industrial Thermal Engineering” and Automated systems for information processing and control (in branches)

As a part of the overall structure of TU-Varna, the academic staff of department “Thermal Engineering” confines to the priorities of TU-Varna: turning the educational process into educational - research one, building new knowledge and creating scientific-applied products, integrating to the European research space.

The theme of the scientific researches is in the field “Power Engineering” and is distributed between the following directions:

·         Theoretical thermal engineering

-          Thermodynamics

-          Numerical modeling of heat- and mass-transfer processes

-          Technology for synthesis of new materials

·         Applied thermal engineering

-          Low-temperature and high-temperature heat pipes

-          Synthesis, testing and optimization of solar water heating installations

-          Heating, ventilation and air-conditioningevaluation of energy effectiveness of water heating boilers and air conditioning installations.

-          Heat pumps with primary energy source - earth

-          Energy effectiveness of buildings and industrial systems

-          Systems for using of waste heat

·         Mechanics of fluids

-          Transportation of hydraulic mixtures

-          Hydraulic fluid  drive

-          Streamline specifics of fan, wind aggregates

·         Automated systems for information processing and control

-          Systems for collection and analyses of data for the needs of the electrical power industry

-          Application of infrared thermography for analyses of the state of electrical power outfits.

-          Computer methods for design of thermal installations.

As it can be seen from the publication activity, the scientific researches of the lecturers/teachers are turned to:
