Student, Applying to the Specialty of Industrial Design

As an engineer-designer you will be a desired specialist in the design and technological bureaus of companies, engineering companies, in various corporate departments, educational institutions and other bodies dealing with ergonomics and design.

The thorough training in different  disciplines makes the engineer - designer a competitive candidate for many creative professions. Upon completion of the  Industrial Design course, graduates receive qualifications as designers and engineers and they gain a Bachelor or Master’s degree. Entry exams are in two subject: Drawing and Colour Composition.

Instructions for drawing

The entry exam is a test of visual abilities of the applicant to draw a black and white picture of a composition of geometric objects, industrial products or household items.

The final assessment of the drawing is done according to the following criteria: the composition containing the objects should be positioned in the depicting plane , accurate proportioning, authenticity, use of perspective  and structural building of the image, convincingly representing the  light and shade of the models.

Each person, entering for this exam must be provided with their own piece of fibreboard for a pad, measuring 35/50cm., pencils, rubbers.

NOTE:  Drawing cardboards for the exam are provided by the Technical University of Varna.

Guidelines for colour composition exam

The entry exam is a test of the artistic and aesthetic abilities of the candidate to create a colour composition in a given visual field with flat or volume effects. In creating the colour combinations - the geometric elements and the colour range (hot or cold) colors - should be defined in advance. The final assessment is done according to the following criteria: proper fulfillment  of the task, precision, purity and creative imagination in the construction of the composition, balanced positioning in the depicting plane; skills to build plain and three-dimensional forms, artistic sense of colour and others.

Each person, entering for this exam must be provided with their own piece of fibreboard for a pad, measuring 35/50cm., pencils, rubbers, a ruler, a pair of compasses, distemper paints, brushes (different sizes) small cups for paint dilution.

NOTE: Drawing cardboards for the exam are provided by the Technical University of Varna.

Prep courses are held throughout the school year on campus by faculty of the specialty.
