Research area


            Primary research area, all the lecturers from Foreign Languagessection are involved in, is as follows:

· Methodologies in Foreign Language Teaching;

· Analysis of Foreign Language Teaching Approaches and Methods (general and for specific purposes);

·  Psycholinguistics;

· Translation Theory ;

·  Philosophy of Language;

· Contrastive Linguistics;

· Transformational Grammar;

· Pragmatics;

· Text Linguistics.

The overall strategy for research development in the section of Foreign Languagescalls for improvement of academic staff qualification through participation in scientific conferences and publishing of the proceedings and the outcomes of research, bringing research and training into balance.

The academic staff at the section of Foreign Languages participates actively in diverse national and international conferences, seminars and other scientific forums. Realised are plenty of publications at home and abroad in different conference proceedings issued in Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Romania, etc.

            From 2003 onwards realized are 10 lecturer mobilities at European universities within the ERASMUS programme; concluded are bilateral contracts with similar structures at Technological UniversitySolun, Greece and Vytautas Magnus University Kaunas, Lithuania.

            During the last 3 years all the lecturers in Foreign Languagessection, pursuing thorough research into linguistics, took part in various scientific conferences, presenting 48 papers, published in full-text and 10 more articles published in national refereed journals (8 single-authored and 2 co-authored).

            What has never been done before in the research activity in the field of Foreign Languages is the academic staff participation during the 2008 - 2009 period in research target projects, funded by the state budget, with the total amount of the projects being 2.
